The great masterpieces of Coral: on display in Catania.

The masterpieces of the ancient art of red coral in Sicily collected in the exhibition The great masterpieces of Coral from March 2 to May 5, 2013 at the Palace Valle di Catania (via Vittorio Emanuele). The exposure of corals of Trapani of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries is proposed by the Puglisi Cosentino Foundation with the support of the Fondazione Roma Mediterraneo.

The Palace Valle headquarters of the foundation that hosts the exhibition of art, is part of the architectural complex of the historical center of Catania in the area that includes the Cathedral, Palace of Culture (Courtyard Platamone), Biscari Palace and the Palace Boccadifuoco (1800 historic home of the State of Catania).
Here’s how the occasion of this exhibition of art, it can become a great excuse to spend a pleasant evening in the area of Catania, full of history and culture.

The great masterpieces of Coral
This exhibition is testimony to the great skill of goldsmiths, engravers, sculptors and simple craftsmen active in Sicily between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries – in particular in Trapani where, at the end of 600, were surveyed over 40 shops. The Corallo is also present in the depths of the Sicilian sea, and feature richness of our island today.
The exhibition consists of a core of historic collections of some foundations: Banca Popolare di Novara (Novara from Palazzo Bellini, the permanent exhibition of the Foundation BPN) of Pepoli Museum of Trapani (which will host the exhibition in Palazzo Valle Secondly, from 18 May to 30 June), the Whitaker Foundation (from Villa Malfitano in Palermo), the Diocesan Museum of Monreale and other public collections along with individual pieces – many of them previously unpublished – on loan to the Foundation by private collectors , Italians and foreigners.

The entrance is free.
And ‘possible to visit the exhibition from Tuesday to Sunday 10:00-13:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 hours.
Closed: Mondays and Easter Sunday.
Open on the following days of the red calendar: Easter Monday, April 25th and May 1st.
