TaorminaFilmFest 2013. The film festival at the Teatro Antico.
The 59th edition of the TaorminaFilmFest renews the appointment of the Great Cinema at the Teatro Antico in Taormina June 15 to 22. The preview has been entrusted to one of the most anticipated films of the season The Man of Steel (Man of Steel) by Zack Snyder, who will be presented by the director and Russell Crowe, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Antje Traue.
The closing of the event, June 22, is instead assigned to another spectacular film with a special screening of The Lone Ranger, directed by Gore Verbinski with Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.
The new idea of the Festival was created last year, which has successfully proposed kinds of vivid emotional impact and popular as comedy, thriller, horror, along with a full program of education and training (TaoClass and the Campus with large star of world cinema and Italian) and the exploration of new frontiers of cinema on-line (the Web Series) continues and is amplified in this edition, offering the public spectacular movies and copyright, meetings with major players in the international cinema including, this year, as many as four Academy Award winners Russell Crowe, Jeremy Irons, Marisa Tomei and Giuseppe Tornatore and, for the first time in a film festival, a preview of the web series.
There are many sections that host films, meetings and special programs but one of them, perhaps for the first time at a festival, mixes comedy and horror, fear and laughter, the oldest and most powerful emotions, which have made the fortune of cinema as always, the theme of this edition, with films made in all places across the TaorminaFilmFest.
“Our idea is to work to discover what is still ‘in the belly’ of the cinema – said Mario Sesti director of the festival -, return to the extraordinary power that made the medium of cinema to more rapid and global spread of 900, much more than the radio or television.”
