Etna Unesco a multimedia exhibition on display in Catania
And ‘dedicated to Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe (3,350 meters above sea level) the photographic exhibition of photojournalist Antonio Parrinello organized in Catania’s Palace of Culture in Via Vittorio Emanuele 121. (see / download the map with the location of the place of the exhibition and our B & B)
The exhibition will be open to the public from 8 July to 8 August 2013.
“Etna Unesco World Heritage” is the title of media: in the exhibition are 40 posters of shots taken by Parrinello during his twenty years of experience as a video room will host the screening of a series of short and medium-length films that feature the Etna , its craters, its forests.
An installation of the designer and “experimenter fashion” Marella Ferrera, drawing on its Historical Archive, will pay tribute to the “Mountain” with a dress-sculpture fabric with slivers of lava stone ceramizzata which emphasizes the ancestral link between the volcano and its people. It will be a journey in pictures between the lunar landscapes, the green of centuries old woods, the snow at high altitudes and the evolution of the pyrotechnic Sicilian volcano.
A path that draws the viewer to the primordial nature of the planet and its four elements: fire and liquid rock, earth, ice, and wind. Next, witness the extraordinary and spectacular – even in its violence – the nature of the volcano, the men who live with this bully and striking reality: volcanologists, geologists, guides, mountain rescue, civil defense volunteers.
